Downtown Shreveport Welcomes Another Building Rehab and New Co-Working Space; More Options for Small Businesses & Entrepreneurs
The Milam Street building that most people have long referred to as only the ‘downtown post office’ has been rehabbed and given a new mission—as home to The Office Hub, an 8,000- square foot shared office space.
The Office Hub is providing tours this week and will open officially on Wednesday, July 19 at 11 am with a ribbon cutting and welcome activities.
The space, which encompasses the entire 2nd floor at 331 Milam Street boasts over 40 Flex Desks and 10 counter seats that are available to members daily. Additionally, there are 16 Dedicated Desks for members with needs for reserved, more permanent seating. There are two 300 -square foot offices that offer additional privacy which can be leased on a short- or long-term basis.
“The professional demographic is changing. In the next few years it’s expected that over 40% of the work force will be freelancers, independent contractors or solopreneurs,” says Pamela Kendrick, Executive Director of THE OFFICE HUB.
THE OFFICE HUB expects its members to be primarily self-employed or a small business professional. He or she may be part of a small team or they may work completely independently. The common bond is a need for flexibility when it comes to renting and leasing office space.
“It has always been a vision to provide Northwest Louisiana entrepreneurs a comfortable home-like setting,” continues Kendrick, “but from the beginning we knew that the members could also need lots of access to modern technology, and to each other. We have created a unique combination that makes doing business easy for them and ultimately leads to their long-term success, and the overall growth in Shreveport and beyond.”
THE OFFICE HUB space, which has been fully renovated with a modern industrial feel, also looks forward to welcoming local businesses who may choose to host their event in the space. They offer four different conference rooms with seating for up to 8 people; two rooms boast conferencing capabilities and all of them offer free Wi-Fi. “Being a part of this community is key for us. Shreveport is home for many of us and we want to be as inclusive and hospitable as we can be.”
